Horacio Arcidiacono While in Buenos Aires, Horacio received recognition as a "young and upcoming milonguero" in a special milonga for him and Carmencita Calderon (the 95-year-old queen of tango), was in charge of marketing and publicity at the renowned club "El Beso," had his own successful milonga "Glamour," and was twice a finalist in the annual Tango Championships of Buenos Aires. In Atlanta since 2001, he has served venues such as Tangueros Emory, Milonga A Media Luz, and Milonga Pasional as instructor and DJ. Currently he teaches his own class not only at Tangueros Emory and Milonga a Media Luz but also at Blue Room and Several Dancers Core where he hosts Buenos Aires’ Tango Academy. In addition, he has been a guest instructor and performer for the Emory University Ethnomusicology Program and the National Ethnomusicology Conference. Horacio travels frequently to Buenos Aires where he enjoys spending time among fellow milogueros as he continues maintaining his dancing skills. Horacio has taught several workshops both in Atlanta and Charlotte, NC where as well as in Asheville, NC, he was asked to perform as a DJ. On March 30, 2005, Horacio directed Tangueros Emory and members of the Atlanta tango community in the sold-out and standing-room-only show "Argentine Tango" at Georgia State University's Rialto Center for the Performing Arts. Due to its success, Emory University has begun planning a repeat performance for early 2006. Horacio has also been asked to perform at different events in the U.S., Canada and Argentina. In June of this year he was invited by the Argentinian Consulate in Atlanta to dance Tango for the Vice-president of Argentina, Daniel Scioli and his wife, during their most recent visit to Atlanta. |
