Process
- Stipe Society Application (found on conference) released in March (around Arts Week is a good time) on hard copy and email format.
- Member Selection Committee established through volunteering and should be composed of between 4-6 active, senior members and the President in March meeting.
- Applications due in April (about a month after its March release).
- Member Selection Committee reviews applications as well as current member status at the end of April. The criteria for qualified applicants should be established before review by the Committee.
- President notifies Dean and Faculty Advisors of the new members and emails acceptance and rejection letters to applicants soon after new members are decided.
- First old-new member meeting in May.
Application Components
- The application cover sheet
- An essay of 500-1000 words discussing a creative activity that best illustrates your scholarship, or a scholarly interest which best illustrates your creativity. We are interested in the development of your creative and scholarly interest, discussion of your goals, descriptions of your work habits, current projects and their conceptual bases, and especially any special or unique approach you have toward your creativity and scholarship. Please type double-spaced.
- A list of creative and intellectual activities, interests, and experiences that would support your selection to the society.
- Representative, but not exhaustive, samples of your best works. Only Xeroxed copies of original materials should be submitted. Slides or photographs of artwork and tapes of musical selections will be returned if a stamped, self-addressed envelope accompanies materials. If you do not have any hardcopy materials of your work (i.e. dance, theater), please provide copies of the program from shows in which you have participated.
- Two letters of reference, on the enclosed forms, from instructors or other persona familiar with your creative and scholarly activities.
