About us: SWAE Mission Statement
The Science Writers Association of Emory (SWAE) was created to foster the development of professional science writers at Emory University.
SWAE is dedicated to providing an open venue for young scientists to improve their communication skills through writing, editing, and publishing and will achieve this through the production of a student-operated, periodic science publication. This publication will feature high quality science writing and news reporting by graduate students across diverse disciplines at Emory.
The SWAE Magazine, in scripto will provide timely and pertinent information about recent scientific accomplishments at Emory. In particular, it will draw on current issues and trends affecting the national scientific community to highlight how cutting edge research at Emory fits into the larger picture. The magazine will serve to aid in learning about the process of publishing and editing and the dissemination of scientific information in a newsworthy format.
SWAE hopes to bridge the gap and build relationships between the current Emory science community and its alumni. The magazine will serve in the capacity of outreach, narrowing the divide between the science world and the real world and making science accessible to all.
