The Artless Players
The idea for The Artless Players arose from a desire to create a more intense, visible theater at Emory University, to introduce the entire campus to the vibrant and intelligent theater community hidden in the various blackbox spaces around campus. In order to accomplish this, we created an ensemble of talented actors to perform shoter pieces, mostly of their own design, in enviornmental spaces around campus. This Spring semester of 2008 has been our first attempt and we hope to have our first performance at the close of it. In the semesters to come, we hope to incorporate work written by other students into the ensemble's repertoire of performances. Essentially, the evolving mission of this group is to facillitate collaboration between student writers and student actors; to build an ensemble capable of self-directing and designing pieces of their own conception; and above all, to inspire questions about art and how it is explored at Emory, to spread the arts to students outside the artistic community, to be as visible as we possibly can.
