08/02/2005 APPLY FOR FRESHMAN MEMBER AT LARGE

Dear freshmen class,

We welcome you to Emory University!

Let me introduce our organization to you. The Pre-Law Society is an student-run organization that works in parallel with the Career Center to inform and prepare students aspiring for a career in law. Our sessions consist of such events as law student, professor, lawyer and law school admissions representatives panels, speakers and information sessions, practice LSAT's and strategy sessions, and many other events useful to everyone from freshmen to seniors. Our executive board consists of six extremely qualified and dedicated students that have a strong passion for providing support to students aiming to ultimately enter law school. We utilize our resources to bring to campus individuals and events that prove to be integral in turning a student's curiosity about law to determination (or refusal). We provide information that is equally valuable to both freshmen and a seniors, such as the timing of each step of preparation for law school and the inside scoop on the lives of law students, professors and professional attorneys to help determine if law school is truly the place for you.

Each year, the Pre-Law Society selects one member of the freshman class to become an integral part of our team and serve as a Member At Large. The individual selected thereby gains experience with the PLS Executive Board, as well as with all the outside bodies involved in coordinating and administrating successful events. This is a wonderful opportunity to form connections on and outside  of campus and get an early start on Executive Board membership (not to mention the resume boost). The Member At Large will be responsible for, but not limited to, administrative tasks of the organization. However, our primary goal is to cater to the needs and interests of all students in the College, making the Member At Large a vital feeder of ideas and suggestions that would target the interests of the Freshman class.

If you are interested in our organization and would like to become part of our Executive board, I encourage you to apply for the above position. Please send an email from your Learnlink account to the conference named "MAL Applications" with your statement of intent, the attached application, and your resume.  The application deadline is September 30, 2005 at 5:00 PM.

Please contact Julia D. Nikitina (jnikiti@emory.edu) or any of our current Exec Board members if you have questions regarding the our organization, the position or application procedures.

We hope you have a wonderful start in your college life and that we can have you on board!

All the best,
Julia D. Nikitina
President, Emory Pre-Law Society
