Orientation “Best in Show”- Each year during the first week of school, this performance is held in Glenn Memorial Auditorium. It is a fun comprehensive showcase of many of the arts organizations on Emory campus. United Indian Students Alliance (UISA) Diwali Show - This annual Diwali show takes place at Georgia Tech and is organized by a group representing area universities. It is a great showcase of song and dance talent from many college students in the Atlanta area. (October/November) www.uisaga.org

Emory Diwali show - This beautiful celebration takes place around Diwali and is sponsored by the Indian Cultural Exchange. Students and professors from Emory alike always love this evening of great food, speeches, singing and dancing as we come together to celebrate the New Year. Aaj Ka Dhamaka (AKD) Competition - Sitara has traveled several times to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for this regional dance competition, hosted by the Sangam organization at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. It is a fun-filled weekend each fall with many talented dance groups competing for a prize of $1,000. (November) www.ibiblio.org/sangam/akd/

 

 

AHANA - This student-run campus organization puts on a very fun sold-out show with 4 performances at the end of each semester featuring multicultural dance groups on Emory campus. South Asian Students Alliance (SASA) competition - This 3-day event is the largest conference of young South Asians of its kind and travels to a different location each year. Included in the conference are many inspiring speakers, events, parties, and a large talent competition. Sitara has competed and won twice with our brother organization, Azaadi, in both Orlando and Houston. (Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, January) www.sasaweb.org

 
  Tech Holi - This Atlanta-area show takes place each spring at Georgia Tech and is hosted by their India Club. It is a fun, energetic evening with lots of young local talent performing in celebration of the Holi festival. (March/April) www.techic.org

 
  International Cultural Festival- Each spring this day-long celebration, hosted by the International Association (IA) and the International Student and Scholars Program (ISSP) is held on the Emory quad and features booths providing free information, food, music, and a glimpse into the culture of many countries around the world, most of which are represented in the Emory student population.
