President – Emily Allen

Emily AllenEmily Allen, a native of Gainesville, Georgia, is a senior in the Emory College and a 2006 graduate of Oxford College. An Emory Scholar, Emily is pursuing a major in Sociology. Emily has been extremely involved in student government since her freshman year. She first served as a Freshman Senator on the Oxford Student Government Association and served as Oxford's Divisional Treasurer as a sophomore. During her time as Treasurer, Emily authored Oxford College's first Monetary Code and streamlined spending procedures between the Atlanta and Oxford campuses. As a junior, Emily served the University as the SGA Vice President for Alumni Relations. In this position, Emily worked with University administrators and admissions officials to add an alumni interviewing process into the undergraduate admissions requirements. These interviews are currently being piloted in large cities around the country. Emily was elected SGA president in February of 2007. Emily is also an officer in her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. Emily is the recipient of the Alan Palmer Scholarship, John and Oida Temple Scholarship, and was named Who’s Who at Emory University. Emily is a member of several honor societies including Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Alpha Kappa Delta. Emily is happy to meet with students or student organizations at any time. Executive Vice-President — Maria Town

Maria TownMaria Town is a junior from Hammond, Louisiana, majoring in comparative literature. She currently serves as the Executive Vice President. During her freshman year on SGA, she served as Freshman Representative and chaired the newly created Contracted Services committee with fellow Freshman Representatives, Matt Poliner and Ryan Berger. She also worked with other SGA members to create an Adderall-abuse help program and to make it mandatory that the Emory shuttles use environmentally friendly bio-diesel fuel. Vice President for Communications – Sarah Martino

Sarah MartinoSarah Martino is a Second Year Law student ('09) and graduated from Emory College in 2005 with a BA in History. Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Sarah spent a year in Washington, DC working for the United States Senate. Her main initiatives will involve improving communication between the SGA and Emory's graduate student population and ensuring that the work of the SGA is transparent and accessible by Emory students throughout the University. Vice President for Finance – Brandon O’Hara

Brandon O'HaraBrandon O’Hara is a first year student in the Rollins School of Public Health from Douglasville, Georgia. O’Hara is currently completing his MSPH degree in Epidemiology with focus on infectious diseases. He received his B.S. degree from Emory University in 2006 and majored in Anthropology and Human Biology with a minor in Linguistics. As Vice President for Finance, O’Hara is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring proper usage of the student activity fee in accordance with the SGA Monetary Code. In this capacity he is also chairperson of the SGA Finance Committee. In addition to his work with SGA, O’Hara is a Department Representative for the Rollins SGA and a Campus Liaison for the Society for Epidemiological Research. Chief of Staff – Kevin Kelly

Kevin KellyKevin Kelly is a junior from Western Springs, Illinois. He is planning on completing a combined B.A./M.A. degree in Sociology and a minor in Political Science. Kelly has served on the executive boards for the Emory Concert Choir, Emory Scholars, and the Outdoor Emory Organization, most recently serving as the Director of the Adventure Orientation program for incoming students. In his current position on the SGA, Kelly is taking the SGA lead in realizing many of Emily Allen's goals, namely campus-wide initiatives such as Classroom on the Quad and the SGA/Emory EMS CPR Initiative. In addition to SGA, he is active in choral activities, the Outdoor Emory Organization, INSPIRE, Emory Scholars, and the Emory Cycling and Triathlon Club. You can contact Kevin at kjkelly@emory.edu.

President of the Graduate Senate, VP for Graduate Affairs — Shauna Leven

Shauna Leven Shauna Leven is a third year student at Emory University School of Law. Originally from Westchester, NY, Shauna is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she majored in Politics and Economics. Shauna worked in banking in Washington, DC before moving to Atlanta to attend law school. Shauna plans to return to New York City after graduating from Law School to practice corporate law, primarily in Securities, and Mergers and Acquisitions. Shauna serves Emory University in a duel role as President of the Graduate Senate, and Vice President for Graduate Affairs on the SGA. Her goals for this year include making graduate students more aware of the resources that the Graduate Senate and the Student Government Association can provide, and showing graduate students how to utilize these resources more effectively. President of the Student Programming Council

Jeffrey Ader is a senior in Emory’s Business School studying marketing and organizational management. He is an active member in the Greek community and currently serves as President of the Student Programming Council. As President, Jeff hopes to consolidate a lot of the campus programming and work to involve more student groups and schools in their events. Vice President for Alumni Relations – Matt Poliner

Matt PolinerMatt Poliner is a junior from Palm Coast, Florida double majoring in History and Political Science. Since coming to Emory, Matt has been involved in a variety of activities on campus. Matt has served with the Student Government Association as a two-term legislator and Chairman of the Contracted Services Committee and has worked extensively with Sodexho. In his current role as Vice President for Alumni Relations, Matt is responsible for working closely with both the Emory Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Association. He hopes to create a more extensive mentoring program, increase alumni involvement, provide more alumni benefits, and many other initiatives. He is also an Orientation Captain, an Executive Officer for his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, a Wonderful Wednesday Moderator, Chairman of the Food Advisory Committee, a member of the Student Alumni Association, and a tour guide. Junior Vice President for Alumni Relations – Ryan Berger

Ryan BergerRyan Berger, a Junior from Fairfield, Connecticut, is the Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations. The only two-year position on the Executive Board, the AVPAR works closely with the Emory Alumni Association to serve as a liaison between the students and alumni of the Emory community. Some of his plans include the revision of the Tavern on the Green concept, and a possible partnership with the Career Center for postgraduate-inspired events. Ryan is an Organization & Management and Finance double-major in the Goizueta Business School, and a Spanish & Portuguese Minor in Emory College. This is his third consecutive year on SGA, having been twice elected his first and second year to the positions of Freshman and Sophomore Representative, respectively; he also chaired the Governance Committee (former Administrative Committee) his sophomore year. Aside from SGA, Ryan is an EPASS Spanish & Portuguese Tutor, a FAME Student Trainer, and a member of Student Alumni Association, Emory Hillel, J-Biz Roundtable, and Goizueta Investors. Attorney General – Larry Reicher

Larry ReicherLarry Reicher is a third year student in the Emory Law School from Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. He received an A.B degree cum laude from Princeton University in 2005 and majored in Politics, while receiving a certificate in American Studies. At Princeton, Larry was involved in numerous activities including the Princeton Model Congress, the Whig Cliosophic Debate Society, the Cap and Gown eating club, and the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. His publications include “The Political Influence of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: A Quantitative Analysis”, in The Michigan Journal of Political Science and “Momentum before Iowa: The Rise and Fall of Howard Dean in the 2004 Democratic Presidential Primary”, in The Undergraduate Quarterly. As the Attorney General, Larry is responsible for reviewing charter applications of student organizations, assisting with parliamentary procedure at all business meetings, and representing the SGA whenever needed.
