The Outdoor Emory Adventure Orientation is a three-day trip that takes place before regular orientation. It gives incoming students the opportunity meet other new faces and learn about Emory University from upperclassmen. Nothing brings people together like sleeping under the stars, rafting down a river, climbing the face of a rock, crawling through a cave, or riding horses through the countryside. Put your fears of a new place aside, do something exciting, and make some friendships that will last your four years at Emory!

Adventure Orientation trips are designed for those with years of experience or those with none at all. If rock climbing seems out of your league--it won't be by the end of the trip! If you've never been backpacking before--have no fear. Many Emory students have been introduced to their favorite pastimes through Outdoor Emory trips. The trips are offered only to incoming Emory freshmen. The cost of the trips include all transportation to and from the trip venue, meals while on the trip, activities fees, and a tee-shirt.

All of the Adventure Orientation trips cost $185, which includes a $10 yearlong membership in the Outdoor Emory Organization. The $10 membership fee is discounted for orientation participants from the normal price of $20, and membership allows you to come to meetings, go on other exciting OEO trips, and have access to all other club activities. The price of the trip takes care of everything for the weekend - transportation, meals, activity fees, an OEO Nalgene water bottle, and a great OEO t-shirt.

All students will need to be on Emory's campus by noon on Wednesday, August 20th. Students are allowed to move in on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., which allows participants in our program to move in before the hustle and bustle of regular move in. If you are looking for local hotels, Emory has a website with a list and information at http://www.college.emory.edu/prospective/orientation/contact.html. Also, if you are looking to ship belongings prior to arrival, please visit Emory Housing's shipping website at http://www.emory.edu/HOUSING/UNDERGRAD/ship.html.
