Welcome to Korean Undergraduate Students Association!

Emory welcomed its first international student to campus over one hundred years ago. Korean Yun Ch¡¯i-Ho, who graduated in 1893, returned to Korea to become an important political leader and to write the present-day South Korean national anthem. Today Emory is home to over two thousand international students and scholars from around the world, including over 500 undergraduates who represent Korea. In fact, one of the largest concentrations of Emory alumni is in the Republic of Korea, where we have a very active alumni organization with many members.

We, Korean Undergraduate Students Association, as our mission statement reflects, strive to represent and unify the Korean student body while promoting better understanding of Korean culture. We work to instill both awareness and appreciation of traditional and modern aspects of Korean culture throughout the Emory community and beyond. Since our initiation in 2003, we have enjoyed widespread success and participation, hosting events independently and in partnership with other organizations.

Last year was certainly a momentous year for Korean culture within the Emory community. We continued to bridge the gap between Korean-Americans and other ethnicities through educational and interactive programs, beginning with "Give Me Back My Youth: A Comfort Women¡¯s Story," KASCON, a national student conference hosted by Emory's Korean Undergraduate Student Association, and the inaugural run of the Korean Studies department.

In spite of summer break, our new executive board is working hard and looking ahead for an even more successful year for KUSA. The executive board has been fervently contemplating, discussing and planning several things so that KUSA could help enhance your experience at Emory to the fullest. While KUSA already has a reputation for being one of the most influential student organizations on campus, the executive board is now determined to raise our standards to a level that has never been surpassed before. We are confident that we will make a strong and lasting impression to everyone at Emory this year, returning students and new students alike.
We would like you to think of us as your first source of information about Korean community at Emory University. Through this site we provide the gateway to Emory and help you connect with fellow KUSA members.

We would like to ask you to take a moment to browse our site and see how you can get involved. Please visit our site often for updated information, and give us your honest comments, concerns or suggestions without hesitation. As always, we will do our best to listen to your voice.

Sincerely,

Jae Joung
Korean Undergraduate Students Association
