Helping Provide Temporary Housing to Women in Need

The Shearith Israel Night Shelter has provided temporary housing for almost 1,000 women in transition since 1983. The Night Shelter operates 7 days a week from November to March and helps residents complete the transition from homelessness into their own independent housing. Our volunteers serve dinner and breakfast and provide company for the women. It is a great experience for all involved as it is a chance to interact with extremely interesting people who we wouldn't otherwise have the chance to meet, while also helping to keep the shelter open.
