Realizing a need for greater mental strength, unity, and fraternal brotherhood in the male community on campus, seven men were steadfast in their efforts and succeeded in establishing a chapter at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) in the name and spirit of ALPHA. With tenacity similar to that displayed by the fraternity's beloved "Jewels", these men pushed onward toward their goal, never succumbing to the negative pressures and discouraging verbiage that blocked their path. Instead, the pitfalls and obstacles were handled with grace and determination exemplary of true Alpha men. The foundation for the Mu Alpha Chapter was laid by our Charter Line on March 27, 1976 when these seven men (pictured below) crossed the "burning sands" into ALPHA LAND.

Since its inception in 1976, Mu Alpha brothers have served the Emory and Atlanta communities through various service projects. Mu Alpha's most note-worthy project is its annual "Step for Sickle Cell" step show, through which over $40,000 has been donated to the Sickle Cell foundation of Georgia over the past 14 years.
